This week I am doing my blog post on the one and only Seesaw! Before this semester I had only heard a small bit about this app but now I have seen it nearly everyday in my field experience. This is an app that let's students, parents and teachers effectively communicate with each other. Communication is crucially important and this app let's you do just that. Students use tools that the app offers to build their portfolio. Teachers can better understand and assess student learning and parents and families can connect with students learning and provide support. My CT can send out reminders to parents, parents can communicate with teachers about students and students can share their work that they are proud of with parents in real time. Below are some students working on math centers and then sharing with parents.
Students have a space to share their work and take ownership for what they have created. This app is compatible with smart phones, iPads, chrome books and so much more. To make things even better, this app is free!
I have gotten so much exposure to this app and have been able to learn how it can be used this semester. I plan on using this in my future classroom someday to increase communication with parents and families and let students be proud of the work they have created!

Wow, you've really been exposed to this app! My CT usually uses Seesaw a lot in the beginning of the year and than tapers off. She thinks that parents really like to see what their children are doing all year round but especially when they first enter a new classroom and have a new teacher. I think this is wonderful that your teacher incorporates the use of Seesaw as much as she does. I like that kids can take ownership of their work and be proud of sharing it with mom, dad, the class and their teacher. This makes children really think about what they are doing before they take a video or picture of a piece of work they did! The fact that not just themselves will see the content, but other people, will make them put extra work into it. :)
